Hetao Xia, Director,
Institute of Beijing External Skeletal Fixation Technology.
Professor
Xia began his orthopedic practice in 1972, and since 1987 has devoted himself
to external skeletal fixation, Ilizarov technique’s theory research, clinical
application and innovation. He has invented a series of external fixation
instruments for trauma, deformity correction and limb lengthening, he has
achieved a great deal in the management of
difficult and complicated orthopedic conditions.
In
2003 , Professor Xia established the first private hospital in PR China
specialized in limb lengthening and height increasing techniques. He has
successfully performed limb lengthening for more than 1,500 cases for people
form all over the world and China.
Prof. Xia has published over 60 papers and contributed chapters to 6 professional
orthopedic books. He has several Chinese national patents and many awards
such as Scientific and technical progress award in Beijing and the best
paper award at SICOT. Prof Xia is also the Director of National External
Skeletal Fixation Technique Training Center, Head of External Skeletal
Fixation Group, Chinese Medical Association, editorial board member of
the Orthopedic Journal of China, vice president of Chinese Ilizarov technique
group.

Gang Li, MD, DPhil (Oxon), Honorary Consultant Surgeon, Senior Scientific
Adviser, Institute
of Beijing External Skeletal Fixation Technology.
Dr.
Li graduated from the Forth Military Medical University, Xian, China and
trained in 301 Hospital (Beijing) and then Nuffield Department of Orthopaedic
Surgery, University of Oxford, UK. He is specialised on basic and clinical
studies of Ilizarov techniques and distraction osteogenesis. He has published
more than 40 papers and book chapters. Dr. Li is currently a Associated
Professor/Reader in musculoskeletal sciences in Queen's University Belfast,
UK. Dr. Li is memebrs of many international societies, including Orthopaedic
Research Society, American Bone and Mineral Resarch Society, British Orthopaedic
Research Society. Dr. Li and Prof. Xia has successfully organised the
First Beijing Symposium on Limb Lengthening and Reconstruction, October
25-28, Beijing, PR China.

is suited at the Feng Tai distract of Beijing City, the hospital occupies
more than 30 acres and there are large gardens and greens inside the hospital.
The hospital currently has 100 beds and all the rooms have separate toilet
